Wade Shimer is based in the firm’s Naperville office. Wade’s practice focuses on civil litigation, including the defense of auto, truck, construction, and premises liability injury claims as well as the prosecution of subrogation matters of all types including auto and property damage.
Wade’s past experience includes taking high level defense cases to arbitration, trial and to the Court of Appeals as required. In 2014, Wade successfully defended the grant of a Motion for Summary Judgment in the Illinois 3rd District Court of Appeals cementing a Plaintiff’s requirement to provide proof beyond speculation of the proximate cause nexus between a Defendant’s actions and an alleged injury in a stair fall case. Vertin v. Mau, 2014 IL App (3d) 130246 (3rd Dist. 2014).
Wade graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Political Science. He obtained his law degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law. While in law school, Wade was Chief Justice of the SIU Appellate Moot Court Board and was named Second Place Best Oralist Overall and Fifth Place Best Appellate Brief at the American Bar Association’s National Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C. Wade also served as Member of the SIU NCAA Certification Board and authored professional athletic negotiation exercises used in Advanced Level Negotiation at SIU.
While at the University of Illinois, Wade was Chairman/Public Relations/Press Manager of the charitable Orange Krush student organization and Executive Board Member of the athletic student support group Illini Pride. He also served as a student Board Member for the survey for the new Illini basketball arena. Wade also worked as the Sports Director for WPGU Radio where he created and hosted a Sports Radio Show, “The Drive.”
Wade is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois. He is a member of the Will County Bar Association.
