Plaintiff alleged that Defendant plumbing company failed to properly barricade and otherwise warn of work it was conducting in the roadway. Plaintiff, while riding a bicycle, rode into a trench and sustained significant neck injuries including a claimed permanent spinal cord injury resulting in a two-level fusion and significant current and future impairments. After a week-long jury trial, Plaintiff asked the jury to award $3,400,000, but the net award was nearly $2,000,000 less.
