James C. Barrow
Chicago
James is based in the firm’s Chicago office. James’ practice focuses on civil litigation, including the defense of trucking, construction, products liability, and premises liability injury claims as well as the defense of complex local public entity, municipality, and labor and employment litigation.
James has successfully first chaired 25 jury verdicts and over 100 bench trials, arbitrations and mediations, in Illinois, Indiana, Texas, New Jersey, and California Courts, with the last ten years concentrating on complex litigation, products liability, premises liability, construction litigation, and insurance coverage matters. James has led trial teams on many high profile cases for a major excess carrier. He has also been responsible for all large-loss subrogation in Indiana and Illinois for a Fortune 500 insurance company. In his role as large-loss subrogation counsel, James has recovered millions of dollars for his clients over his career. In his role as defense counsel handling catastrophic and wrongful death lawsuits, he has obtained defense jury verdicts, settlements and summary judgments in favor of his clients.James graduated from Wright State University with a degree in Philosophy and Political Science. He obtained his law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law. While in law school, James was a member of the Negotiations Team and an Intern in the Criminal Clinic, representing indigent clients. He continues to perform pro-bono work with the Northern District of Illinois. James is also a Certified Litigation Management Professional with Claims & Litigation Management.
James is admitted to practice in the State of Indiana and Illinois and multiple United States District Courts. His professional memberships include Chicago Bar Association, Korean Bar Association, Asian American Bar Association, and Federal Trial Bar.
